Pain isn’t an illusion We all can see it, feel it, hate it, love it It has been with us from the start From the aches of the joints To the thumps of the heart
We ignore it, shut it out Till it pushes back and shows us That the only way it out Is to face it
We were raised in a society where we “Walk it off” or “suck it up” But in actuality, we go nowhere Because instead of facing the pain We run, hide, and cower
Pain is no illusion It is a gate that we all must pass In order to truly be healed From heartbreak, headache, doubt, To seeing what life is truly about If we can’t avoid it Best thing we can do Is control it
